Mountain Drive
Mountain Drive was created for my Short Attention Span Documentary class at MIT in Fall 2019. As the name of the class suggests, the film could be considered a mini-documentary, clocking in at around 8 1/2 minutes. The film centers on my own father, Rusty Justice, who formed a company named Bit Source in Pikeville, KY in 2014 which taught and subsequently employed former coal miners as coders. We discuss the experiences that shaped him, what it was like starting a tech company in Eastern Kentucky, and his hopes for Appalachia’s future. This film was shot in various locations around Eastern Kentucky in November 2019.
